Autotune. Before the internet, it was just a secret known only to music producers to turn screechowls into performers that have the appearance of talent, but thanks to Autotune the News, it has infected the pop-culture psyche so throughly, it became a comedy skit during the Academy Awards.
In seriousness, I would have suggest The Gregory Brothers in this as well, but I'm not sure if their "Autotune the News" fame successfully transferred over to their more serious musical performances.
