And just as I read this post I am watching the same ad on NBC's "National
Head's Up Poker Championship".. Where they have Mike Sexton offering
$100,000 in cash, prizes and WPT championship seats. It is described as
"risk-free" poker.

What is interesting is that they have apparently estimated that the target
population of these ads loses around $20/month on average playing online
poker - I would have thought it was much higher than that. No doubt a few
people win a lot of money, and most people lose a significant amount (the
professional poker players really clean up playing against most amateurs
online). If this kind of deal helps more people limit their online poker
losses to what seems like a relatively manageable $240/year, this is not a
bad development.

I have never played for real money (other than house games with friends) so
I don't know if this kind of set up would be attractive to regular online
players. If they let you do it for just one month, it might be worth $20.00
for me to try it.
