We cancelled (and saved net money) all premium cable except HBO when we got Netflix. During the school year we maybe had one disk out every 1 or 2 weeks, but we stream enough programs to more than get our money's worth. I am not sure how much of what we stream we could also find for free on hulu, but it is more convenient this way, and no ads. Also, it has been really nice that our grown children, living in two different locations from us, have also been able to use the streaming service, as they were never going to have the funds for cable where they were living. In the summer, with kids home and more time, we use the discs more, but only for films/programs that we dont have access to in other ways, and have been building up plans to see all year. For example, my 13 year old son had never seen any of the Back to the Future films - last week I got all three of them and we watched them together over a couple of days. A colleague at work has been recommending that I watch "Slings and Arrows" for a couple of years - I have the first season scheduled to arrive on disc I think probably next week (this week I have a few films I have been wanting to see again, including two of my favorites - Liberty Valence and Spartacus, and a newer one I have been wanting to see but missed, Fair Game). -- TV or Not TV ....
