I just got around to finishing the last episode of Miracle Day. My main
question is, why was this season so not good? I really would like to know.
It seemed to me there was something seriously wrong with the story-telling;
but these are the same people who told such gripping and interesting and
funny and heart tugging stories for three seasons - and Children of Earth
was just so great. Yet this season, with what I gather was a lot more money,
was so, so not great. The new characters were not interesting or compelling,
and the old ones for the most part lacked much of what made them so
interesting and compelling in the first place. The narrative seemed both to
take forever to unfold, then get developed in a rushed and impatient and
unartful way. One way of looking at this was that they did not just move the
show to the US, but ripped it almost entirely out of the Doctor Who
universe.
I now have a different understanding of why Starz may not be interested in
doing this again.
