Yeah. Odd. Despite the Easter-Eggy references to the Doctor here and there, this American-skewed run seemed detached from the Who-niverse in a way that "Children of Earth" with its similarly piddling references to "Doctor Who" did not. As it bounced from Wales to the US and beyond, MD was neither fish nor fowl - and despite some top guest actors doing their best with the material, it was way too long. Plus, things were ultimately too amorphous about the Blessing and the Families for me to care beyond the instant gratification of seeing Jack, Gwen and company in action. Five hours rather than ten might have helped it to be more compelling despite the fuzzy motivations and identities of the villains.
