The problem with Today, since we're viewing the narrowing of the ratings gap between it and GMA as a problem rather than a cyclical fluctuation, is not Matt Lauer's eventual replacement. After all, the narrowing has occurred even with Lauer there. It is Ann Curry sitting in the (stage) right-hand seat that viewers appear to be rejecting. If it were me, I'd make the bold move of adding Seacrest AND re-signing Lauer. I think that's a combo women viewers would love, while my guess is that men wouldn't care. Make it a three person panel with Lauer carrying the news load and related interviews; Curry handling news features and on-location hosting of "special split editions of Today"; and Seacrest running with the lighter/entertainment news related items. Make adding Seacrest added-value rather than compensatory replacement.
