The UK episodes run between 1:28 and 1:29. If they air in 90-minute
slots on PBS, then yes, they've been cut, and/or accelerated.
What is the actual content-to-running-time ratio for PBS these days?
Something like 56:30 of program (which includes sponsor plugs) per
hour, isn't it?

I recently watched the America in Primetime
programs that I recorded from PBS in the fall.
It took about 52 minutes to watch the program
content, zapping credits, previews, sponsor plugs
etc.
For comparison the recently departed soap opera
One Life to Live ran about 36 minutes, The View
runs about 38 minutes, Late Show runs about
42 minutes, Late Late Show runs about 40 minutes,
most network prime time 1 hour shows run about
45 minutes and cable network 1 hour shows run about
42 minutes.
