To me, one of the signs that soaps were in decline was that the audience didn't revolt over all the commercial time. For the past few months I've been watching "It Takes a Thief" reruns Saturday nights on Antenna TV. And one of the things I'm enjoying about it (aside from the nostalgia kick) is that there's so little commercial time. I haven't timed the shows, but they feel like they're at least 48 minutes. Sometimes the commercial break after the opening credits is only 30 seconds long, and most of the breaks are only about 2 minutes. It's the only show in prime time that I don't watching "live." Yet another example of how "progress" has made TV less watchable. -Tim
