Assuming this is true -- and I have no reason to think it isn't -- it's terrible news. There's enough drama and absurdity in trying to put up a show at the community theatre level -- angst that is multiplied by multiple powers on Broadway -- that the soapiness is just irritating.
I suppose if the complications were at all plausible, the soapiness might be palatable, but every time they leave the rehearsal room or the theatre to deal with the "problems" of "real people," I see nothing but shark fins and water skis. --Dave Sikula On Apr 30, 10:17 am, Tom Wolper <[email protected]> wrote: > Rob Owen of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette wrote a followup review of > Smash, where he liked the parts of the musical and did not like the > personal stories plots as much. > > He did, however note this: > > What has me most concerned about the show's future are reports that > with the departure of show creator Theresa Rebeck, NBC executives want > the show to be less focused on the Broadway show and more on the > infighting between characters, which is exactly the opposite of what > "Smash" should be in its already-ordered second season. > > He also noted that a first season soundtrack album will be released tomorrow. > > http://communityvoices.sites.post-gazette.com/index.php/arts-entertai... -- TV or Not TV ....
