Sounds likely that Jason, if planning to depart, will have at least a
regular presence through the election. I believe there is a precedence
for this on SNL (a departing cast member hanging on through an
election, then departing mid-seaon).

Regarding Wiig's versatility or lack of said, I can point to her film
roles in "Bridesmaids," "Adventureland," "Extract," "Friends with
Kids," "Whip It" and "Paul," which are amusing/wacky but generally
grounded rather than grating. I have usually found her SNL characters
funny, from Aunt Linda and the yuppie a-hole to Penelope and the
unctuous, clueless grande dame actress. But, yes. the Target Lady and
Gilly did wear out their welcome after a while. I'm happy for her that
she's moving on to potentially bigger and better.
