Let us set aside the added trauma it creates, because clearly news
organizations don't give a crap about whether they cause harm. Strictly in
terms of what the journalist is supposed to do, probing children is
unprofessional. First, kids aren't reliable sources, and the questions they
get asked (i.e. "How were you feeling when the shooting started?") aren't
newsworthy. I feel the same way whenever a criminal is arrested for a
high-profile crime and "journalists" track down the criminal's mother to
ask her how she feels to know her son is a murderer. NOT NEWS.
