I watched last night's Fallon online, so I'm hoping to confirm something compared to the broadcast version.
The musical guest was Dave Matthews Band, who had performed on the show two weeks prior. In front of last night's performance there was a brief card noting that the performance had been recorded earlier that month. I suppose performing the band's only Christmas tune on the 17th is preferable to doing it on the 3rd. While bands are pre-taped often (Exhibits 1-27, SCG), it's rarely, if ever, acknowledged like this. Did this happen for broadcast? I have a theory as to why, but I think it's a stretch.
