It seems like the Late Night staff thought best to do the disclaimer for reasons similar to Mark's first point.
I am rethinking a presumption I made about band segments being taped days before broadcast. I assumed other shows did this, just not as frequently as the Late, Late Show. Perhaps Craig's practice is the outlier, rather than the leader of this phenomena.
