The funniest comment was the one thanking the Post for not sending Chris Richards to review the show.
I'd cut Post a lot of slack on this review - and the quality of its reviewers in general, i.e., if it can employ Mr. Richards, any freelancer looks better by comparison. Because it's next to impossible to take any of this seriously. (I suspect Post editors share my opinion.) Maybe the NYT guy does an okay job of reviewing current music, but I think it's not an easy job to review music and performances by these various groups that may have just won Grammy Awards, but in 10 years (or sooner) will be remembered by almost no one. BTW one thing I might (unfortunately) remember for a little while is how badly off key the lead singer (of Fun?) was on Sunday night. I thought I was listening to a high school performance. Most of the rest of the acts weren't much better, with the notable exception of Carrie Underwood, one of the few who actually sang well. Also, the canvas dress was a great gimmick for her - to compensate for a lacking stage personality. I like MAS, but I can see the basis for a reasonable critique of their music. But this is not a review of MAS, it is a sustained attack on an entire genre of music. Did the guy think he had tickets to a Sex Pistols concert? It reads like some whiney, overgrown punk music geek who has no clue as to the history or diversity of American music. I might expect this on some hipster fan page, but not a major city newspaper. -- -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
