I mentioned this in passing last year, but I went to the August 1, 2011
taping where Josh Groban was reading the Top 10 list. It seemed to go off
without a hitch. But after going to commercial, someone announced they had
to redo the ending. They reshot it (interestingly, they didn't use the
second take), and Letterman was so pissed, he walked off the set
repeatedly. Eddie Brill kept coming over to Letterman to try to talk him
down, but you could tell he was on tilt and stayed that way on the show. A
couple segments later, they had Dianna Agron ("Glee") on, and Letterman
absolutely eviscerated her for a good minute (which was edited out of the
broadcast).
It's interesting that Burnett is now a Dave Whisperer.
