I do remember that earlier appearance (also very funny). But that is really
the source of my question. I have searched a couple of times in the past
(and just did it again) and can not find a clip of Brian Williams actually
being interviewed on the Tonight Show (I think Williams was on the JLS, but
I am pretty sure too that when Dave is harping on this in that earlier
interview he is talking about the Tonight Show). All I have been able to
find is something about "Jay Leno's garage" (which Williams appears to be
referencing in that earlier Dave interview) and a taped bit inserted into a
Leno monologue about how Williams being so hard working that he even plays
the NBC Nightly News theme music at the end of the broadcast on a little
electronic keyboard. Every other hit I get from searching either google or
Youtube is either Williams on Dave's show, Williams talking about the
Tonight Show on the Nightly News, or Williams on Fallon.

This is making me suspect that perhaps that earlier interview was a joke on
how Williams hardly ever (or maybe never?) is actually interviewed on the
Tonight Show (as they note, the geography does make that difficult). Of are
William's appearances on the Tonight Show so unremarkable that even in this
day and age they do not merit an online clip? On the chance that the
Tonight Show only clips itself on Hulu, I also searched over there (for
reasons I may write about later I am now, at least for a while, a Hulu+
subscriber), but while I did find a lot of Tonight Show clips, none were of
him interviewing Brian Williams.

If any of the regular Tonight Show watchers here can remember a rough one
to three month period when they think Williams was on Leno, please let me
know and I will try a more focused, date-based search. I am now well and
truly intrigued to see a Leno-Williams interview on the Tonight Show.
