Buck was born April 25, 1969. McCarver was traded to Philadelphia at the end of the 1969 season (part of the Curt Flood trade). He was reacquired from Montréal for the 1973 season and was traded September 1, 1974 to Boston. So Buck would've seen him at ages four and five.
I think you raise a great perspective when it comes to how Buck treats McCarver during broadcasts. I wonder how Buck will react to whomever Fox puts in the booth next year (I don't remember hearing a replacement being named).
