OK, I've been working longer hours than is probably advisable lately, and admittedly I haven't stayed up to date on this story, so maybe I missed something, but...did the NTSB release the official cause of the crash? The last (credible) hypothesis I heard about had an inexperienced pilot (almost no practical time in the 777, according to multiple reports) on the stick for landing and two senior pilots effectively doing nothing (presumably one thought the other was monitoring the inexperienced pilot and vice versa).
As far as shoddy workmanship...the 777 has one of the best safety records in the industry, and it's not really Boeing's responsibility to maintain the aircraft once it's sold; if Asiana didn't perform the proper maintenance on the aircraft that went down, that's on the airline.
