Well that will suck.  With Bill Hader/Stephon leaving the cast, Strong's
"Girl-you-wish-you-hadn't-started-a-conversation-with" was the next best
recurring character on Weekend Update.  If she's going to become a
"straight" news reader/co-anchor, they lose that character too.

Lorne Michaels has announced that SNL's 39th season premiere will find cast
member Cecily Strong joining Seth Meyers on the "Update" desk.

 

But since "Late Night" 4.0 will apparently only air four nights a week
(M-Th), what Lorne would really like is to see Seth stay on as "Update"
anchor after February.
