Since you mentioned it... When NBC announced the sale of the Burbank studios, they attempted to appease the community who were disheartened at the loss of an iconic regional draw by promising a state of the art news center at the base of Universal City, near the Metro station, with a window-on-the-world like the one used on The Today Show and with an amazing array of broadcast facilities for both local and network news. I saw an artist's rendering and it did look cool. Didn't happen though. Project was scrapped.
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/nbcuniversal-broadcast-center-278091 It was scaled back from a 1.5 million square foot metroplex to a 150k square foot shoebox. Also worth noting that the Conan Tonight Show studio had to be designed from the ground up because film studios like the ones at Universal require different things than TV studios, and I don't believe Universal is actually doing a ground-up facility for either NBC or KNBC, just reworking old space. Ironic since one of their reasons for abandoning Burbank was they didn't want the hassle of reworking old space. Guess news isn't a priority. Never would've imagined that. Oh, and Chuck Henry and Jimmy Fallon deserve each other. Colleen I always had respect for until the multiple hair colors, none of which made her look younger or more journalistic. I miss Jerry "from the desert to the sea" Dunphy. For that matter, I miss Paul Moyer, though he was too "old school" to continue, as this classic NSFW YouTube clip demonstrates. I would like to see Paul Moyer's reaction to Jimmy Fallon. http://youtu.be/ib5zvlVc16A On Sun, Jan 12, 2014 at 7:38 PM, Jim Ellwanger <[email protected]>wrote: > On Jan 9, 2014, at 11:10 PM, Kevin M. <[email protected]> wrote: > > > But what really ticked me off is that the LOS ANGELES Times didn't talk > at all about how the loss of The Tonight Show affects California.
