True, none of do. But the financial and technical time and money commitment
is so substantial, and this is a real missed opportunity.

On a somewhat related note - was the Dustin Hoffman version of Death of a
Salesman performed live on PBS, or was that tape? For my money that was one
of the top ten events in the history of television, at least in my
lifetime. Like most people I had read the play, seen the film and one or
two local productions, but I felt like I never really understood it until I
saw that version, and it was thrilling. For an acting hall of famer with
such a glittering list of accomplishments, I think his Willy Loman should
be in the top three roles listed in his obituary. I don't expect NBC to do
a live version of such a down-beat drama, but I would like them try to do
something that would be a real popular culture event.
