Sorry, Kevin. I've only sampled the Fallon Tonight Show, so my observation may be skewed.
It seems to me that out of the three folks who have transitioned from 12:35 to 11:35, Fallon's show has changed the least. Sure Jimmy has a new set and a new theme song, but from what I can tell his Tonight Show is pretty close to his Late Night. Put it another way, it's like when Craig Ferguson moved to a larger set. The show looked different, but the content was not dramatically different. This struck me mainly because of how it seemed to be an article of faith that a 12:35 show could not be transplanted wholesale to 11:35. Both Dave and Conan seemed to take that to heart. Letterman's switch to 11:35 was complicated by the whole intellectual property fight, there were new bits, some characters did not follow him, music acts were not as obscure/cutting edge. While Conan didn't have the IP issues (at least before changing networks), characters were changed, Andy came back, new bits made, old ones retired, etc. Certainly all shows change over time, but I think, if the first five weeks of Fallon are representative, there may be a couple of new party games, but the only way you could really tell if it was an 11:35 Tonight Show versus a 12:35 Late Night episode is in the set (which seems to seat just as many as before), the theme and the name.
