The Deadline version of the story ( https://deadline.com/2014/11/jamie-horowitz-out-at-nbc-news-1201287150/) notes that the word just last week (from the NY Post) was that “Horowitz is the insider that NBC folks think has the inside shot at replacing her [Turness]. He’s been kissing up to the Comcast brass with some effect.” It also suggests that Horowitz was regarded as a jerk around the office. Looks like a power play that went awry. Deadline also has a nice Anne of Cleves reference, the point of which I gather is that Horowitz position as GM of Today was never really consummated, as he was not officially supposed to take over until December 1.
