Kevin I have to agree with you.   And compliment you on your summation of the 
show. 

I always had Today on in the early 80s while preparing for school.    For some 
reason I recall a fluff piece they did on a book with the author of the demise 
of the English language in America.    The example I remember was instead of 
people enunciating "did you eat yet? "    they roll together the sounds 
"ja'yeet'yet".       Now that I type this that was a pretty north east 
Caucasian story too .


Late night and early morning shows are vehicles for promotion with either news 
or entertainment wrapped around.
