This would be fab, and likely will not happen. But it does give me a chance
to ask this question again: Has any Late Show prior to September 11, 2001
been aired since 9-11? My memory is that prior to 9-11 they often used
older reruns to air when Dave was taking a break, but after they only
showed recent ones. I have been told they made that change because newer
reruns get better ratings (and, in line with Kevin's recent point on this
thread, a show that is 1 or 2 weeks old is more likely to have a small bit
of residual promotional value left), so maybe I am conflating when they
started the recent rerun practice. But of course prior to 9-11 they had a
gag making fun of NYC, and since 9-11 NYC is only the greatest city in the
world. I am pretty sure we have not seen an episode of Late Night (with
Dave as host) that did not include NYC being the greatest city in the world
since 9-11.

I guess if CBS was up for the retrospective they could either make an
exception, or make special intros for each show.
