This story from yesterday clarifies (or perhaps reiterates and reminds for this crowd) what ESPN might be thinking here. It is not so much that the big names are losing propositions for them, but that cord-cutting has begun to threaten ESPN too, and more than ever they want to invest more in live sports than personalities and other programming that does not drive real-time viewing.
