The suits were discussed on one of the podcasts from the summer. Apparently
over at TCR Brooks Brothers was the only company willing to work with them at
the start, and they stuck with them for the whole run. For Late Show they had
several fittings, which suggests to me that if he had gained weight, it would
have been recent. Alternately, slim fit suits are still a thing, fashion wise
(Colbert's GQ spread suggests as much). Batiste is certainly working a slim
fit silhouette.

Oh - and I was interested to see him comment on the fit of his suits. I have
been saying to my wife that his clothes do not seem to fit him very well on
these first few CBS shows, while I always thought he looked immaculately
tailored on TCR. We wondered if he had gained weight or something. If they
notice the problem, why can't they do something about it?

That was remarkable television - and the kind of experience that is probably
unique to Colbert in the late night environment. Dave could have done something
similar, but nobody else currently working would have had the interest to set
that up and the patience to let it play out. And of course Colbert's own
backstory mirrors it so closely that it was kismet.
Actually two great interviews last night, as Colbert was right there with the
Uber guy, funny and challenging.

When you watch it I think you'll understand why, but tonight's Colbert
interview with the Vice President was edited for time. Unlike Tuesday, the
show inserted notices to that effect at the bottom of the screen.
The full version will be available on the website, probably sometime tomorrow.
The articles already online are based on pool reports, which reflects the full
interview, not what airs tonight.
