Don't forget to draw the distinction between "breaking" and "late-breaking," the latter being a trademarked phrase sold to local news stations (as part of the trilogy of "live -- local -- late-breaking").
My TV news pet peeve is the word "exclusive." If a network interviews President Obama, it is always cited as "exclusive," as if Obama will refuse to speak to another journalist for as long as he lives. The specific questions a journalist asks Obama might be unique to that interview, but that doesn't make such an interview exclusive. An exclusive implies a journalist has facts, footage, evidence, etc. that could not be or has not been obtained by any other news outlet.
