Not being a fan of the show I am tempted to make the obvious snarky
response, but I guess you mean what I realized in progress: I did not pad
my DVR of the show at all - a decision I regretted while watching it,
recalling that the word was that the reason NBC did not use a live audience
was that their responses added unpredictable length to the show. But the
last credit (including the sad note of the death of the father of the young
woman who played Rizzo) rolled before my recording ended, exactly on the
hour. The audience applauded and could be seen, but I guess they were
instructed not to be audible during the performance? Still, I will be
shocked if they don't add an audience for Hairspray after this.
