I agree with Tom. Politics shifted far right, so what would've been considered a centrist point of view is now considered progressive or liberal. Johnny Carson and the Saturday Night Live of my youth poked fun at whomever was in office, party not withstanding.
I recently lamented on Facebook that the political shift is so extreme that we have now returned to a time when being racist is considered a legitimate point-of-view, and the news media and talk shows allow airtime to guests/pundits who are openly prejudiced, when what they ought to be doing is punching the neo-Nazis in the face. As long as Bill Maher gets to have his bigoted buddies like Milo and Coulter on, and as long as Fallon can muss up Trump's hair instead of calling him a racist sexual predator, Kurtz is talking out of his fat ass.
