The trailer for the new series is available online, and nearly every aspect
of it annoys me.

The series is supposed to be set in the so-called "prime" universe (meaning
the Shatner, Nimoy era, not the Pine, Quinto era) but it looks nothing like
the original series. The uniforms resemble the off-world jackets from the
most recent film. The Klingons don't look like Klingons. And the desert
sequences are straight out of Star Wars, not Star Trek.

Not to be too much of a purest, but the original series Enterprise was old
when the series aired. It had two previous captains (Pike and April) and at
least one extended mission. So a series set only a decade before the
original and set in the original timeline ought to resemble the original...
at least a little bit.

I want to like the series... I prefer Trek TV to Trek movies. I like the
casting choices overall, though all the behind-the-scenes shuffling has me
nervous. And if they are going to focus on the Klingons as the trailer
implies, that explains why Paramount/CBS moved heaven and earth to halt
production on the Axanar fan-film.
