I wasn't responding to Kevin directly. I was just keeping the thread going.
That's a good point about Katy being a large step up from Paula and Randy
Jackson.

In an article I read about the AI reboot it noted that while nobody could
name the season's winners of The Voice it didn't matter because that show's
producers figured out how to make it about the judges and not the
contestants. If AI viewers found the structure of The Voice more compelling
and less contrived, ABC is going to have a real uphill challenge getting
them back to AI. Simply replicating the format of the original will not be
enough. People are not going to have the sense of discovery they had
watching the original and ABC is going to have to innovate in order to
succeed.
