CBS doesn't get much use out of it, the land will continue to be expensive, and they will be able to use the revenue to cover for a bad quarter. If they were determined to keep the building they would not have brought on a real estate brokerage firm. The building was built for black & white production and has to be frequently retrofitted for technology changes. The cost of upgrading to 4K might not be worth it to them. As far as getting the building historical status, a historic marker on the edge of the property should be enough.
