There is an old Hollywood tale that I’ve never found video of. There was a neighbor on the Burns & Allen Show who made a big stink asking for more money, insulting people on the show, etc. One night Burns walked out and calmly announced to the live audience that the neighbor had been fired and then they just continued with the series.
You’d think if a network wanted a show, they could just drop the character or recast it. Heck, how long did The Hogans run without Valerie Harper?
