Right; but that is not my point. My point is that it would be bad if we got to the point where people were fired as soon as an accusation was made. That is not what happened here, both because Lauer admitted to wrongdoing and because, even had he not, there was adequate persuasive evidence that he did.
Imagine though that Lauer had completely denied the allegation, and as if Tuesday morning NBC had no real other evidence to go on, what ought they to do? I am saying they should suspend the employee and take some time to investigate.
