So, your theory is not that ratings were down because of actual protests,
but because of anticipated protests. That is possible. About one third of
the country are die hard Trumpsters; as a group they may be less likely to
care about the Grammys anyway, so maybe they account for 20% of the Grammy
audience in previous years, and maybe they all decided no to watch the show
this year because they were afraid of hearing or seeing any sign of the
Resistance.

Or maybe the ratings were down because of the prominence of Hip Hop artists
being recognized - I guess that might alienate the same cohort.
