A lot of the “backlash “ was exactly along these lines. Brokaw had been on some kind of listening tour in Trump country, so ostenibly he was sharing insights from this reporting. I guess MTP and Brokaw thought the story was how Trump voters feel, rather than what is the actual experience of Latinx people in the US. Like the seemingly unending NYT pieces about ignored working class white voters, this illustrates the really offensive thing about the MTP segment this morning: the media consistently views the experiences of non-white people in the country as marginal and peripheral, and those of whites people as always central and focal.
