It’s always easy to bash SNL, but I give them credit for trying this, producing an episode which was not worse than a typical week (whatever that might mean to any particular viewer). The Host was predictable but damn if not still comforting.
Maybe I would have liked to see them try to do things a little differently, maybe have cast members do something like their original auditions for the show, or maybe what they would do if auditions for the show today. Michael Che’s grandmother really did die from the virus last week, and he included a reference to that in his typical way. I happen to like both Che and Jost in WU, but I suspect I am in the minority.
