Regis had a rare talent of being high energy and not self conscious when he
was on camera, no matter if he had something prepared or he had to talk
spontaneously. Almost everybody gets self conscious when they see the red
light on a TV camera and they might need a few seconds to get beyond it and
start talking. Regis could just go without a second thought. That's what
made him a good talk show host and especially a good fill-in talk show
guest. If he didn't have anything to promote or any reason to be in the
news it didn't matter. Just bring him on the show and let him go for a
segment.
