Semi-related, while the NBA did stay mostly in a bubble, upon hearing the
news the Lakers won, many in LA (predictably) took to the streets to
celebrate a victory they had nothing to do with (I’ll never understand this
aspect of sports). So although the wealthy players stayed safe, the people
whose health care is statistically not as good gathered en masse to
probably cause yet another Covid spike, and that pisses me off. Taking to
the streets to protest the wrongful murder of an unarmed black man is one
thing, but there was no need for last night’s exhibition. It potentially
cost lives, and it is the most egregious and gross type of public display.

This week both my wife and I celebrate our respective birthdays, and the
total number of people who celebrated with us last night was 7, and
everybody stayed outside and socially distanced. We’d have preferred a
bigger party with more people (and cake), but we respect each other and
those around us too much to take stupid chances.

So to sports fans who need their sports, f*ck you. To the people of LA who
partied in the streets, f*ck you. You’re thoughtless and stupid, and I’m
tired of you. Quit being a$$holes. Just f*cking quit it.
