If he is able to keep her at home instead of putting her in a facility more
power to him. It’s exorbitantly expensive to retrofit a home for dementia
care.

There’s no way Leno could take Mavis out on the road with him. When my
mother developed dementia a caregiver recommended taking her only to
restaurants she knew well as she’d get disoriented and uncomfortable in a
restaurant she didn’t know. I couldn’t imagine going from city to city in a
different hotel and restaurants every day.

There’s something weird about Leno always wanting to prove he’s just a
regular guy despite all of his wealth and privilege. Taking care of a
dementia patient is not only expensive, it’s exhausting and thankless. It’s
generally beyond the capacity of a 74 year old man and there should be no
shame in saying he needs help and can afford to get it. I can’t figure out
his binary of either being her primary caregiver (which he can’t be if he’s
working on the road) or dumping her for a younger woman.
