I’m no fan of Leno (always have been of his wife), but I’m not going to
bash him too much in this situation. I work with a lot of patients with
lifelong partners dealing with dementia, and has been said, any way you
slice it, it’s incredibly hard and painful. I don’t know what Leno has said
elsewhere, but I don’t see him in this article claiming to be his wife’s
primary caregiver; he said he goes home and spends quiet evenings with her,
carries to bathroom etc, but that would be consistent with him having high
quality paid help who care for her when he is not home. I only wish we had
a system that allowed everyone in similar situations some of that support
as well.

It is weird, but typical of the man, that he congratulates himself so much
for not dumping his wife for a young woman - that’s a pretty low bar. OTOH,
what he is dealing is painful enough that if giving himself that credit
helps him, I’ll allow it.
