My standard for color analysts is that they know more about the game than I
do and they don’t drive me nuts with inanities. Mark Sanchez worked a
Steelers game early in the season and I appreciate how he could describe
the offensive formation as they came to the line of scrimmage and said
which play they were going to run. Between plays he had nothing to say
which wasn’t a tired cliche.

I used to be on the road some Monday nights and I had the MNF game on
Westwood One radio. When Brady was playing they gave him a segment to do
during halftime, and not just Patriots games. It was just empty talk, like
when a local athlete is invited to speak at a community banquet. So my
expectations of him weren’t that high to start with. He doesn’t stand out
for me either way on TV. A lot of times I don’t even remember that’s him
until he starts into an anecdote from his playing days.

I've always said the only people who like Tom Brady either live in the New
England or Tampa Bay areas or work for the media. He's always been a boring
personality with a voice for a cardboard cutout, but that doesn't matter
since the media loves him because he's good at throwing a football, so that
should excuse all of the shady things he's done.
