Dick, I looked at the DW-TV situation again. As mentioned in my previous post, I have a Fortec Star Lifetime Classic NA and was getting the AC3 audio through my home theater system but not through the RCA phono L&R output jacks. My older Fortec Star (FSCI-9800HDD) however does receive the audio through the RCA phono L&R as well as through the S/P DIF out if fed into the home theater system.
Here is the good news. I just discovered why the Lifetime Classic NA was not feeding audio from the RCA phono L&R. Do this: With the remote, press the lower left red button labeled LANG. On- screen menu shows Audio: 1 Unknown (AC3), 2 Unknown. My receiver was on 1 Unknown (AC3). Cursor with down arrow to position 2, hit OK (either of the two OK buttons works for me). You should now have audio through the RCA phono L&R. My guess is that your not getting the AC3 through your home theater system is because something is not configured correctly either with your Lifetime Classic or your Insignia or both. Your Insignia sounds like it would do the job and at least I know that my Lifetime Classic NA passes AC3 audio. I'd suggest double checking everything and keep working with it. In any case I'm betting you'll have the audio via the RCA phono L&R after doing the trick above. Pete, yes DW-TV still broadcasts in Spanish at certain times I'm pretty sure since the other night I heard it in Spanish. Robert asked "What is DW-TV?" It's Deutsche Welle TV, Germany's government run TV and radio service. My first awareness of Deutsche Welle was Radio Deutsche Welle in the 1960's as a listener of shortwave radio broadcasters. Jake
