Hi fellow dish heads, Just a quick note to let ya know what all I've done to upgrade my 9 foot perforated metal big dish system. As everything still works, I focused on swapping out my old no longer working C-band receiver. Two choices: Motorola's DSR922 or MPEG-2 and a C-band receiver primarily for moving the dish. I finally, went with the later purchasing a new US Electronics Legacy C/Ku-band IRD, a Viewsat model VS2000 ULTRA with a Flash Drive package and a high-stability 20 degree LNB. Hopefully the housing for the new LNB will accommodate its larger size. If not, I'll have to order an elbow, for it as well. We'll see. In the meantime, anticipating converting my dish from a Birdfeeder, to an active dish, I've been engaged in doing some serious washing. Sitting still for so long and having pigeons in the area, made this more than just a little job...!! In any event, it's all on order and so about all I can do now is wait for everything to come in. Just as info, I've attached an email listing of all the items I selected for upgrading my system. And as well the addresses where I made my purchases and how much each item cost. Hopefully the information might be useful to someone, deciding to go the MPEG-2 route as I have. Well for now that's about it, except for having an expert come out and go through, setting up my system correctly... It's exciting to be returning to using my old BUD(dy) again. Years ago, I had many a nice evening searching the sky for interesting feeds - I'm looking forward to being able to do that again... Smile.
