So many of us had a little more free time back then to enjoy the
exploration of analog C band and KU. I don't even go back that far.
Glad I at least got to experience the waning days of half hour
prefeeds for newscasts, first years of "Big Brother" tv show's
live feeds from the house and Julie Chen rehearsing
while having her makeup done.
Watching weather channel talent getting blown around on some
beach hoping their feed slot would come before their satlink
would be blown out of sync.
Skirmishes between reporters jockeying for position at OJ trial.
Spending the early hours of Dec 31 watching how others celebrate
New Years as it approched midnight in a dozen different time zones.
Interesting feeds from 1990's political coventions.
Listening to sports cameramen as they broadcast live displays
of people exposing themselves "inconspicuously" well before
the games were scheduled to start at major sports events.
Bourbon Street feeds from MardiGras week in New Orleans
before networks were warned about instigating lewd behavior in
the crowds.
If we only appreciated then, just how short a time span we would
have to enjoy such freedom. It was sort of like the treasurehunter
on the beach with his metal detecter not knowing what
might turn up next.
Oh well, wouldn't have time for exploring now even it it were there
on C or KU.
Is it really still out there on some FTA of internet channels?
