desktop effect is disabled - will try comment the "dri" line although I 
don't think this is the problem - see below.

The xfce panels and the apps in other workspaces display fine - no 
issues.  *only* the kontact window goes all white for about 60 secs (I 
guess until korgac is done with whatever it is doing).

I am running the xfce desktop.

xfce-panel 1%
X          varies from 1% to 5%

GPU is GeForce 7300 SE with the Xorg driver (i.e. not NVidia's closed 
prop. driver).
