CSV format export and later re-import will help solve this
issue. Good idea for calendars as well.
Even though my mail archive size is 13GB, there is no way i
could repro your case as i've been a fetchmail+pine user since
'94. Hence, i searched around for possible bugs.
i think most email client will not be able to manage large data
sets such as yours, which are in Gigabytes.
