Hi, I've done the "continuous" warping method where you just use 4 balls and
all the cards are threaded the same. That works really well, but I haven't
figured out if or how to do it when the cards are different. I've tried
setting up the warp that way when some of them are the same and then just
cutting the threads for the "odd" ones separately, but that's quite awkward.
And it's awkward getting it on the loom & the tension even.
How do the rest of you set up your warps in that case? Do you just bite the
bullet, use the warping board and cut all your warps individually to thread the
the cards? That's what I did with the current project. I ended up with a
knot at each end of the warp and those tied together with a cord. I'm using a
Palmer loom & the knots want to hang up around some of the pegs which are close
together.
On the current project I'm using some old Novitex thread. It's linen and rayon
and very slightly hairy, which is making slightly sticky sheds. I didn't think
that it would be. I had used it on my floor loom in the past without a
problem. Anyway, just clearing the shed with my finger is working fine.
