Thanks Arno! So was this ultimately a yahoo relocation bug for including port 443 on the Location header? If I go directly to http://yahoo.com:443/?s=https in a browser then it doesn't work... but going to https://yahoo.com and then being redirected seems to work.... perhaps the browsers work around problems like this?
